About Whodunit
Whodunit is a compact PlayMemorize reasoning game about working from evidence to the explanation that fits it best · the move philosophers call abduction. Clues are found at the scene, each suspect's card shows the marks they leave, and you name the one suspect who could have left every clue.
How a round works. The scene shows a set of clue icons. Each suspect's profile shows the marks they are known to leave. Exactly one suspect's profile accounts for all the clues; every other suspect fails to explain at least one, which rules them out. Eliminate the impossible suspects, and the one who covers everything is your answer. Feedback is immediate and every round is generated from a seed, so play stays fresh and reproducible without leaving your browser.
Abduction, not deduction. Whodunit is the detective form of Inference · both reason backward from evidence to the best explanation, but here you resolve it by coverage (who explains all the clues?) rather than by likelihood. Pair them with deduction games like Mastermind Deduce, which run forward from rules to one certain answer · together they cover the everyday logic of doctors, detectives, and scientists.

What does Whodunit train?

How do I find the culprit?
Check each suspect against the clues. Any suspect missing even one clue is ruled out · they could not have left it. The one suspect whose profile covers every clue is the answer. -
How is Whodunit different from Inference?
Both reason backward from evidence to the best explanation. Whodunit resolves it by logical coverage (who explains all the clues?), while Inference resolves it by likelihood (which hidden source most likely produced the draw?). -
Does Whodunit get harder?
Yes. Higher difficulty adds more clues and more suspects, and the wrong suspects share more of the clues · so each one is missing only a single mark and you have to check carefully. -
