About Fastest Pour
Fastest Pour is a race-prediction game built on one delicious physics idea · time = path length ÷ speed. An apparatus of criss-crossing tubes runs from the top of the screen down to a finish line. At each inlet a liquid is poured in · water, juice, oil or honey · and each liquid flows at its own simple speed factor (water ×4, juice ×3, oil ×2, honey ×1), shown in the legend above the tubes.
Trace, weigh, commit. The tubes bend and cross on their way down, so they are not the same length · a fast liquid may be stuck with a long winding tube while a slow one gets a short straight drop. Trace each tube with your eyes, weigh its length against its liquid's speed, and tap the pour you think touches the bottom first. Then the race plays out: every liquid flows down its tube at its true rate, and the reveal shows the full math · each tube's length divided by its speed, ranked fastest to slowest.
Why it trains your brain. This is relative-speed reasoning · the same rate × time thinking behind "which car arrives first?" word problems, but judged visually before it is confirmed numerically. You practice estimating lengths along a winding path, holding two quantities in mind at once, and trading them off against each other. Easy races keep the speeds far apart; harder ones use neighbouring speed factors, more crossings and photo-finish margins.

How do I play Fastest Pour?
Each tube at the top is assigned a liquid · water, juice, oil or honey · and the legend shows how fast each one flows (water ×4 down to honey ×1). The tubes criss-cross down to a finish line and are not the same length. Tap the liquid you think reaches the bottom first, then watch the race play out. -
How do I know which pour wins?
Time equals path length divided by speed. Estimate each tube's length by tracing its bends, then divide by the liquid's speed factor from the legend. A short tube can beat a fast liquid: honey falling straight down may well beat water taking the scenic route. After the race, the reveal shows the exact numbers for every tube. -
Is there always one clear winner?
Yes. Every apparatus is generated so the winning pour leads the runner-up by a real margin · wide on easy, down to a tight but honest ~8% photo-finish on hard · so the race never ends in an ambiguous tie. -
What changes with difficulty?
Easy races three liquids with far-apart speeds through a few crossings, so the winner is comfortable to call. Harder settings bring the speed factors closer together (like juice ×3 vs oil ×2), add more levels and crossings to the tubing, race all four liquids at once, and shrink the winning margin. -
