Rule Induction
Guess the hidden rule behind a stream of examples, then apply it to the next one. Inductive reasoning under uncertainty
About Rule Induction
Rule Induction is an inductive-reasoning game · examples arrive one by one, you infer the hidden rule that generated them, and you apply it to the next case.
How a round works. Watch the worked examples, form a hypothesis about the rule, and answer the next item. Feedback tells you whether your rule held, so you refine it round by round.
Part of Pattern Recognition. Rule Induction is both its own game and a tab inside the Pattern Recognition hub, so you can play it on its own or alongside the related games.
Still in beta. Rule Induction was just broken out into its own game, so you will find it in the Beta section of the library while its standalone landing is finished.
Part of PlayMemorize, a passion project from Christoffer De Geer. It runs entirely in your browser.
FAQ
-
What does Rule Induction train?
Rule Induction trains hypothesis testing and inductive inference · generalising a rule from limited, noisy evidence. -
How do I play Rule Induction?
Watch the worked examples, form a hypothesis about the rule, and answer the next item. Feedback tells you whether your rule held, so you refine it round by round. -
How is Rule Induction related to Pattern Recognition?
Rule Induction is one of the games inside the Pattern Recognition hub. It also stands on its own here, with the hub still able to play it.
