About PlayMemorize Geography
PlayMemorize Geography is an interactive map trainer covering all 195 countries · capitals, major cities, mountains, rivers, lakes, and country outlines. Pick a country, choose what you want to learn, and drill it on a real map until the placements become automatic.
Five topic layers per country. Capitals and cities (the political map), mountains (the physical relief), rivers (the hydrography), lakes (the major water bodies), and country outlines themselves. Most well-mapped countries ship dozens of named features in each layer, so a single country has a long study tail even after you've mastered its capital.
Two study directions. In Locations mode the game names a feature and you tap its spot on the map · the standard "where is …?" drill. In Names mode a pin appears and you pick the correct name from a multiple-choice list · the inverse direction, where you build map-to-name association rather than name-to-map. Switching between them is the fastest way to find the gaps in your mental map.
Progressive difficulty. Lower difficulty offers fewer distractors and a wider hit radius; higher difficulty narrows both, so a precise tap on a small Mediterranean island counts and a vague tap a few hundred kilometres off does not. Levels in the labyrinth ramp the feature count per round, so a high-level encounter might ask for the top ten rivers of a country in sequence.
Compiled long-form articles. Each country / topic pair ships a localised "memorise the top N {topic} of {country}" article with mnemonics, per-step InlineGame embeds, and a closing complete-map round. Browse /geo for the country list, jump into a country directly, or play the labyrinth's geography encounters as part of a polymath run.

How many countries are covered?
All 195 internationally recognized countries, with detailed regional data · major cities, mountains, rivers, and lakes · for the well-mapped ones. Coverage depth varies by country (G20 nations are deepest); smaller countries ship at least the capital and outline. -
Can I switch between studying locations and names?
Yes · and you should. Locations mode trains name-to-map recall ("where is Marseille?"). Names mode trains map-to-name recall ("what's this city pinned in southern France?"). Most people are stronger in one direction than the other; alternating finds the gap. -
Where does the map data come from?
Country outlines and major features come from public-domain geographic data sets. Rivers, mountains, and lakes are ranked by length, elevation, or surface area so the Top-N you study is the standard reference list · the same one a cartographer or atlas would use. -
Can I play offline?
Yes. PlayMemorize is a Progressive Web App. Install once and the geography trainer · every map, every feature dataset · plays without an internet connection. Flights, road trips, and field trips all qualify. -
