About Coast
Coast is a reaction-and-prediction game. A stone is launched along a track and coasts to a stop under friction · slowing down all the way. The right of the track is split into numbered zones, and your job is to tap the zone you think it will stop in, before it settles.
Bold or safe · your call. Call it early, while the stone is still fast and far from rest, and your reaction time is quick · but it is genuinely hard to read where a fast stone will end up. Wait until it nearly settles and the right zone is obvious, but your reaction time is slow. You must call the right zone to advance to the next round; your fastest correct call is tracked so you have a number to chase.
Deterministic and fair. Every round's launch speed, friction and stop position come from a seed, so the same setup always plays out identically. The board never changes size · each correct call just launches the stone faster, tightening the window, so the further you get, the quicker your judgement has to be.

FAQ
-
How do I play Coast?
A stone slides along the track and slows to a stop. Tap the numbered zone you think it will stop in before it settles. Call the right zone and you advance to the next, harder round; call the wrong one, or let it stop before you commit, and the run ends. -
What is the reaction time?
The reaction time is how many milliseconds passed between the launch and your call. Calling it correctly while the stone is still fast gives a low (fast) time; your fastest correct call is saved locally in your browser so you can try to beat it. -
Should I call it early or wait?
That is the whole game. Early calls score a faster reaction time but are riskier, because a fast stone is hard to read. Waiting until it nearly settles makes the right zone obvious but your time is slow · and if you wait too long it stops before you commit, which ends the run. -
Does it get harder?
Yes. The board stays exactly the same size, but each correct call launches the stone faster on the next round · the window tightens, so you have less time to read where it stops the further your streak runs. -
Does it work offline?
Yes · Coast is part of the PlayMemorize Progressive Web App. Install once and play anywhere, even with no connection.
