About Molecule Mash
Molecule Mash is a tiny chemistry playground. You start with a molecule or material, choose a curated, real transformation, and see what it becomes · the product's formula, its name, a one-sentence explanation, the reaction type, and an honest note on conditions and safety.
Curated, never chaotic. Every offered reaction is a familiar, low-risk, textbook-accurate change · water electrolysis, burning hydrogen or carbon, iron rusting, photosynthesis, respiration, baking soda meeting vinegar, and the melting, freezing and boiling of water. There are no impossible merges, no hidden-condition surprises, and no chemically-valid-but-absurd routes.
Truthful by design. Each reaction carries a source you can check and a declared simplification level, and the game clearly separates a physical change (like melting) from a chemical one (like combustion). A wrong pick still reveals the real product, so a miss teaches the actual chemistry.

What is Molecule Mash?

Are the reactions real?
Yes. Every reaction is a familiar, textbook-accurate change with a checkable source and a declared simplification level, and each equation is mass-balanced. Distractor cards are other real molecules, never a false product of the reaction shown. -
Is this a set of instructions for home experiments?
No. Some reactions (like burning hydrogen or splitting water) are demonstrations only and carry a safety note. Molecule Mash teaches what happens, not how to do it at home. -
What is the difference between a physical and a chemical change here?
Melting, freezing and boiling water are physical changes · the substance stays water, only its state changes. Combustion, rusting and photosynthesis are chemical changes that make new substances. The game labels each reveal so the distinction is always clear. -
Is it available in other languages?
The interface is available in all 25 PlayMemorize languages. Chemical formulas and canonical compound names stay language-neutral, as they are worldwide.
